Lake of the Torches has earned national recognition from its peers in the casino industry for its innovative promotional and marketing strategies. Lake of the Torches received a total of 62 Romero Awards and recognitions since they were first introduced in 2005. The Romero Awards, named after casino marketing pioneer John Romero, honor the best strategies in casino marketing and are considered the gold standard for casino marketing. Lake of the Torches also received the Barona/VCAT Contender Award for Excellence in Indian Gaming Marketing during the 16th Annual Indian Gaming National Marketing Conference in 2014.
The Romero Awards
The Romero Awards recognize the most significant achievements in casino marketing and promotions in the gaming industry in North America and abroad. The awards are presented to top gaming venues for the innovation, creativity, originality and implementation of their marketing strategies during the previous year. A panel of experts from the casino marketing industry award the recognition based on the promotional concept, the execution and the competitive advantage gained for the casino guests and/or the community. In total, Lake of the Torches Resort Casino has accumulated a total of six diamond awards, 13 gold awards, 13 silver awards and 34 honorable mentions during the past nine years.
