Lake of the Torches Resort Casino Raises $10,000 For Four Charities to Brighten Lives in the Northwoods

Lac du Flambeau, Wis. – Lake of the Torches Resort Casino raised a total of $10,000 for four important Northwoods charities as part of the Carry the Torch Fundraiser held Sunday, Aug. 19.

The fun-filled event included a 1 mile fun run for all ages through downtown Lac du Flambeau. Next, runners and walkers alike completed a 5K course which ran through downtown Lac du Flambeau and along two picturesque lakes before returning to the casino.

Participants received finisher medals and the top three finishers in several age categories were awarded place medals during a reception held at the casino after the run and race. Runners, walkers and volunteers also participated in many raffles and drawings for prizes donated from businesses across the area.

Volunteers from each of the four charities assisted at the event. The Lakeland Pantry, the Wisconsin North Central Chapter of the American Red Cross, the Northwoods United Way and the Lac du Flambeau Youth Center will each receive $2,500 from the fundraising event. Each of these charities play a vital role in enriching the lives of residents throughout northern Wisconsin.

“Thank you to all of the participants and our business partners who contributed to making this a successful event for these charities,” said Lake of the Torches Director of Marketing Leana Schlecht. “This was a truly wonderful way for all of us to come together to ensure that these charities have the resources necessary to help our friends and neighbors here in the Northwoods.”

Situated on the shores of Pokegama Lake and nestled in Wisconsin’s Northwoods, the Lake of the Torches Resort Casino has a feel of a classic Northern retreat and reflects its Ojibwe culture and heritage.
