Lac du Flambeau, Wis. – Catch all of the action as Northwoods MMA stars Frank Schuman and Adrian Pierson headline a night of intense mixed martial arts action as part of King of the Cage “Attack Mode” on Saturday, July 25 at Lake of the Torches Resort Casino, the northwoods’ premier destination for fabulous entertainment.

Frank Schuman, a Lac du Flambeau tribal member, will defend his 5-0 professional fight record against Robbie Gotreau of Minneapolis, Minn. Gotreau has a 10-4 fight record and trains with America’s Top Team in Savage, Minn.

Adrian Pierson, also of Lac du Flambeau, currently has a 7-4 amateur fight record. He will enter the cage in July ready to redeem himself after suffering a loss during his last match on April 18 at King of the Cage “Extreme Measures,” which was also held at Lake of the Torches.

Both Schuman and Pierson train at the Leadership Academy in Woodruff under Coach Gary Engels. Gary Engels is a 4th degree black belt who founded the Leadership Academy martial arts school in August of 2005. Engels has been developing their Gracie Jiu Jitsu program by bringing in Royce Gracie, the first UFC champion, to Leadership Academy for Schuman and Pierson. Gracie Jiu Jitsu was made popular by Royce Gracie when he won three of the first four Ultimate Fighting Championships while being the smallest competitor. Gracie Jiu Jitsu was created by Royce’s father Helio Gracie. In the cage, you’ll see the emphasis on the fighter being smart and strategic as a fighting and defense strategy, causing the opponent to “tap out.”

Doors to the convention center will open at 6 p.m. and fights will begin at 7 p.m. Ticket prices are $65, $45 and $30 and can be purchased online at www.lakeofthetorches.com or by calling 1-800-25-TORCH. You must be 18 to attend. Ages 14 – 17 are welcome when accompanied by an adult.

Situated on the shores of Pokegama Lake and nestled in Wisconsin’s Northwoods, the Lake of the Torches Resort Casino has a feel of a classic Northern retreat and reflects its Ojibwe culture and heritage. The casino has over 800 slot machines (including a high-limit and non-smoking area), Blackjack tables, Poker tables, Craps and Roulette, a high-stakes Bingo Hall seating up to 500 persons, Woody’s Bar and Grill and the Eagle’s Nest Restaurant. The hotel has 101 well-appointed rooms, the Dancing Waters Lounge and the Woodland Oasis pool area. The 8,500 square-foot Convention Center with the Hall of Nations offers an outstanding venue for entertainment, receptions, trade shows, meetings, presentations and seminars.
