Enjoy Two Extraordinary Days of Sport and Charity with Lake of the Torches’ Carry The Torch Fundraiser

Sign up today to participate in two extraordinary sporting events that will help local charities that brighten the lives of residents throughout the Northwoods with the Carry the Torch Charity Fundraiser hosted by Lake of the Torches Resort Casino.

The two-part fundraiser will begin with the inaugural Carry the Torch 5K Run/Walk on Sunday, Aug. 28. This fun-filled event will begin at Lake of the Torches Resort Casino’s Hall of Nations with registration from 7 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. A 1-mile Kids Run will begin at 9 a.m. and the 5K Run/Walk will begin at 9:30 a.m.

The course will start at Lake of the Torches Resort Casino and run through downtown Lac du Flambeau. The course will continue along two picturesque lakes before turning around and finishing back at the casino. The event will conclude with awards and raffles at 11 a.m. in the Hall of Nations.

The camaraderie and sportsmanship will continue on Wednesday, Aug. 31, with trapshooting and sporting clays competition held at the historic Gateway Gun Club in Land o’Lakes. The event will include morning practice and demonstration by John Muir, a four-time All-American professional shooter with Winchester Firearms. After a delicious lunch served in the Gateway Restaurant, participants will compete in trap and sporting clay competitions with awards being presented to top place shooters at the conclusion of the event.

Proceeds from the Carry the Torch Fundraiser will be distributed to the Lakeland Pantry, the Northwoods United Way, the Lac du Flambeau Youth Center and the Wisconsin Central Chapter of the American Red Cross. Each of these important charities provides criticial services and resources for residents right here in the Northwoods.
