Lace Up Your Running Shoes to Help Northwoods Charities with the 2017 Carry the Torch 5K Run/Walk

Sign up the whole family and participate in an extraordinary day of sport and goodwill with the Carry the Torch 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, Aug. 26, to help support four charities that brighten the lives of residents throughout the Northwoods.

This fun-filled family event will begin at Lake of the Torches Resort Casino’s Hall of Nations with registration and packet pick up from 7 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. A 1-mile untimed Fun Run/Walk for all ages will begin at 9 a.m. The professionally timed 5K Run/Walk will begin at 9:30 a.m.

The flat and fast course will start at Lake of the Torches Resort Casino and run through downtown Lac du Flambeau. The course will continue along two picturesque lakes before turning around and finishing back at the casino. The event will conclude with awards, raffles and snacks at 11 a.m. in the Hall of Nations.

Registration for the 5K Run/Walk is $20 for adults 19 and older now through Aug. 12 and $25 from Aug. 13 – Aug. 26. Registration for students 18 and under is $10 now through Aug. 12 and $15 August 13 – August 26. The untimed 1-mile Fun Run/Walk is free for all ages. Proceeds from the Carry the Torch 5K Run/Walk will be distributed to the Lakeland Pantry, the Northwoods United Way, the Lac du Flambeau Youth Center and the Wisconsin Central Chapter of the American Red Cross. Each of these important charities provides critical services and resources for residents right here in the Northwoods.
