Lake of the Torches Resort Casino Donates $1,400 to the Oneida County Public Safety Dive Team to Purchase Life-saving AED

Lake of the Torches Resort Casino recently presented the Oneida County Public Safety Dive Team with a $1,410.80 donation that will help dive team members in their rescue efforts in the Northwoods.
The donation will be used to purchase an automated external defibrillator (AED) that is used to check a victim’s heart rhythm and can send an electric shock to the victim to restore the heart to a normal rhythm, according to Assistant Team Leader Michael Fraley.
The AED will be an important tool for the 13-member dive team, which consists of law enforcement, fire and rescue personnel and civilian volunteers specially trained in underwater rescue and recovery of persons and property, Fraley said. The dive team is called to incidents on or near the water involving injury or to recover evidence for law enforcement. The donation will also help purchase rescue masks that protect rescuers when performing CPR on a patient.
All team members have their own diving and scuba gear and can respond quickly to incidents not only in Oneida County, but are also called to incidents in surrounding counties. The team has responded to numerous calls in the Lac du Flambeau area and will continue to provide assistance to local law enforcement and emergency personnel when called upon.
“The Oneida County Public Safety Dive Team provides a critical role in assisting law enforcement and rescue personnel not only in Oneida County but in surrounding areas as well. We are proud to assist the Dive Team purchase an AED and rescue masks to help save the lives of Northwoods residents and visitors,” said Lake of the Torches’ Director of Marketing Leana Schlecht.
