Poker Players Share $51,000 Jackpot at Lake of the Torches Resort Casino
The stars were aligned for a table of very lucky Poker players at Lake of the Torches who split an astounding $51,000 Bad Beat Jackpot on Thursday, Aug. 7, at Lake of the Torches Resort Casino, northern Wisconsin’s premier destination for huge cash winning.
Bad Beat Jackpot is a special promotion available in the casino’s Poker Room. A predetermined amount, called a “rake,” is taken from every Texas Hold ‘Em Poker game played, along with a $1,000 base provided by the casino. When a table has a minimum pot of $20 and six active players, it qualifies for the Bad Beat Jackpot. The Jackpot is awarded when a five-card poker hand containing three aces and two jacks or better is beaten by a better ranking hand. A player must use both hole cards to qualify for the jackpot.
The Bad Beat Jackpot amount is divided amongst the players at the table based on the hand they were holding when the jackpot was announced. Forty percent of the jackpot went to a very lucky player (who wishes to remain anonymous) who held the best losing hand and thus won $25,584. Twenty percent of the jackpot amount, which was $12,792, went to the player who held the winning hand that consisted of three aces and two queens. Another 20 percent percent was split evenly between the remaining eight eligible players at the table who each received $1,599. The last remaining 20 percent of the jackpot will be used as start up for the next Bad Beat Jackpot.
Lake of the Torches Resort Casino’s Poker room is open Thursdays – Saturdays. Players can register from the 3 p.m. – 4 p.m. each day at the Table Games pit or call 1-800-25-TORCH, ext. 6777.
